I am the Teaching and Learning Program Manager and the Liaison Librarian to the Comparative Media Studies/Writing program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I earned my MLIS and MPA from the University of Washington, and my BA in English from Barnard College.
Before becoming a librarian, I worked in publishing, professional kitchens, and a nonprofit. I became a librarian to be a part of a profession that helps others, especially those who have a hard time feeling welcome in other public spaces. I love that I get to do exactly that. As a newer librarian, I’ve been really gratified to find the #critlib community, which continues to give me life! My library research interests include diversity and inclusion, critical librarianship, student outreach and engagement, library space and administration.
I’m a native New Yorker (Brooklyn!) who has also lived in San Francisco, Seattle, and Lawrence, KS, and has finally returned to the East Coast. In my spare time, I can be found hunting down good food, reading (sci-fi, fantasy, YA, “literary” fiction, memoirs) with my cat, or exploring new places.
