I love my work. Like so many other librarians, I realize that the complexity of the job, the autonomous nature of what we do, and the meaningfulness of our work makes for a pretty satisfying experience. Currently, I’m the Digital Services Manager at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Over my relatively short library career, I’ve been an instruction librarian, a reference librarian, an instructional technology librarian, and now a systems librarian of sorts.
I lean more to action and doing than I do to reflection and writing. I rely more on instinct, dialog, and collaboration than I do research, reading and expert opinion. While I’ve been able to pull my thoughts into the context of scholarly writing before, doing so on a regular basis will be a welcomed challenge.
Other facts about Eric:
- I love teaching.
- I love rooting for others.
- I used to do slam poetry and play in an air hockey league.
- I am comfortable with ambiguity.
- I am interested in leadership and aspire to be a library director someday.
Thanks for reading In the Library with the Lead Pipe.
