I’m proud to be a co-founder of In the Library with the Lead Pipe. This blog came about as a seed of inspiration shared by a few bright, active, even daring colleagues with whom I have had the privilege of collaborating. Inspired, ambitious, and passionate, we were looking for ways to share our new ideas and investigations. A blog was the obvious answer: an accessible venue to share our energy, our desire for positive change, and our constructive criticism of our beloved profession. Lead Pipe has been, and continues to be, a great adventure.

I love my work as a librarian and library director, and I also love being part of ALA and contributing to librarianship at large. I serve on my share of committees, largely in ACRL, and I greatly enjoy participating virtually and at conferences. I was a 2008 ALA Emerging Leader, and that program served to fan the flame that became this blog. In 2011 I was flattered to be named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker.

I’m originally from New Jersey, earned a Bachelor’s degree in English at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, then a Master’s in English (Literature & Environment) at The University of Nevada, Reno. After working for about five years as an editor for several organizations including Orion magazine, I discovered myself as a librarian and earned my Master’s in Information Resources and Library Science at The University of Arizona. I have worked in libraries at The University of Arizona, The College of Idaho, the Ada County Library, and Boise State University. These days I’m Director of Library Services at the College of Western Idaho, a new and rapidly growing community college in southwestern Idaho near Boise.

Thanks so much for your interest in me and In the Library with the Lead Pipe. I hope you enjoy our work here. Please talk back to us in the comments, on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ and let us know how we’re doing.
